How it Works

OVERVIEW

  • Register to bid by creating an account.
  • Review items for sale in the current auction, choose the lot you would like to bid on, and simply bid by clicking the Bid button.
  • If you win the bid on an item, a Pony Up Auctions representative will contact you directly to make arrangements for payment and pickup/transportation. If you get out bid and lose an auction, you do nothing more.
  • See below for more details.

Please note that there is a 5% buyers premium on all winning bids


GETTING STARTED

Creating an Account and Registering a Bid

A. Create An Account

To participate in Pony Up Auctions, you’ll first need to create an account.

  1. Click the REGISTER button at the top of our homepage. Alternatively, you can click Register to Bid on the auction page.
  2. Under SIGN UP, you can choose to create an account by either using (a) your existing Facebook, Google, or Apple accounts, or (b) just your email.
  3. Follow the steps to finish creating your account. You will only do this only ONCE.

Please keep your username and password in a safe place. You will be financially responsible for all bids placed under your username and password.

B. Register to Bid

Before you can bid on a lot listed on Pony Up Auctions, you must register for that specific auction. Registration allows us to verify your contact information and payment method, and for you to confirm you agree to our Terms & Conditions.

​Even if you have bid in the past, you must register for each new auction.

  1. Find the auction you are interested in.
  2. Open the Auction Details Page.
    • Click the title or image of the auction to view its details.
    • Read the Auctioneer’s Notes and Terms & Conditions to make sure you understand:
      • Payment deadlines and methods accepted
      • Pickup/transportation policies
      • Buyer’s premium and any extra fees
  3. Click REGISTER TO BID.
  4. Complete the Registration Form.
    • You will be prompted to either Log In or Sign Up (see above if you have not yet created an account).
    • Choose a username that will identify you on the platform. This username can be your personal name, business name, or something unique to you, and it will be visible to other users during bidding.
    • Please verify that all of your contact information is accurate.
  5. Enter a new payment method or select an existing one. WE WILL NOT CHARGE YOUR CARD FOR WINNING BIDS UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD (which is only an option if your total is under $500)!!! This initial process is used to verify our bidders identity only.
  6. Choose your preferred delivery method (pickup or delivery). These options vary based on the Terms & Conditions. Please be sure to read those prior to registration to ensure that you follow the guidelines if you happen to win.
  7. Agree to the Terms & Conditions.
  8. Click COMPLETE REGISTRATION at the bottom of the form. NOW YOU ARE READY TO BID!

Bidding During an Auction

Below you will find helpful auction and bidding tips.

A. Placing a Bid

Each auction lasts approximately 14 days. Within that time, prospective buyers can contact Pony Up Auctions to discuss specific animals or items listed for sale in the auction. In addition to learning more about the items, prospective buyers have the option to make arrangements to see and/or test ride animals before they bid. Buyers CANNOT test ride the animal(s) after you win an auction.

  1. Find the lot that you are interested in placing a bid on.
  2. Click on the BID button.
  3. Enter your maximum bid.
    • Your bid is the maximum amount that you are willing to pay for this item. The auction software will automatically increase your bid incrementally when other bidders place competing bids.
    • Your Max Bid remains confidential from other bidders
  4. Click CONFIRM BID. Note: If you are outbid, you can increase your maximum bid amount later. See below for details.

Note: Your maximum bid amount does NOT include the buyers premium or other applicable fees. This will be added on top of your maximum bid amount if you win the auction.

B. Checking Your Bid Status

You can easily view your bid activity from your account. Here’s how to check:

  1. Navigate to our auction page and click the BIDS button located near the top of the page (next to your name and the Watch List).
    • Make sure you’re signed in to your account.
    • You will be taken to a page that displays all lots you’ve placed bids on.
  2. Review your Bid Status
    • For each item, you’ll see:
      • Current bid amount
      • Whether you are the high bidder, outbid, or if the auction is in sealed bid mode
      • The remaining time for the auction
    • You can click on any item to go back to the lot and place another bid.

C. Extended Bidding

If a bid is placed during the last 2 minutes, the system will go into EXTENDED BIDDING and an additional 2 minutes will be added to the clock. Pony Up Auctions is a true “progressive” auction where the end time will extend until no more bids are placed. The benefit is that the bidder who wants the item the most wins. Bidding will not close until the specified time period passes without a bid being placed. Watch the time clock on the page of the item of interest to determine how much time remains.

D. Payment

If you win a bid, you will be contacted by a Pony Up Auctions representative after the auction closes. PAYMENT CONFIRMATION IS REQUIRED BY THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY. NO item will be allowed to be picked up or transported before payment has cleared. A 5% buyers premium and other applicable fees will be added to the final winning bid amount for any item purchased.

Payment Options Include:

  1. Bank Wire Transfer (REQUIRED if your total is over $500) – we will send wire instructions at the close of the auction.
  2. Credit Card or Debit Card (OPTIONAL if your total is under $500) – additional 3.5% processing fee

 ALL payments are made directly to Pony Up Auctions.

D. Pickup/Transportation

You may pickup your items or arrange transportation. A Pony Up Auctions representative will work with you to verify your desired delivery method. You are required to make transportation arrangements within 48 hours at the end of the auction (payment must be confirmed first).

We can also assist you if you are not comfortable using online auctions. You are welcome to contact us to set up over-the-phone bidding.
